My thoughts are with Vernon’s family. It is so painful to lose someone, yet no one else can really know all that you feel except our Heavenly Father. He knows and feels your pain. He calls death an enemy and promises to remove it forever, Isaiah 25:8 “And he will swallow up death forever…” He also promised to wake up all our loved ones, in the memorial tombs, from death (Isaiah 26:19). What joy it will be to see our loved ones again and to enjoy life as our Creator purposed (Psalms 145:16). I  hope these words give all of you comfort.

Slim was married to my Mother Jean for many years and knew each other since their school days.Always thought of him as a Father figure and he was always there for my Mom even after they seperated. He stopped by all the time during her bout with cancer to check on her and was there for her till she past last Feburary and that meant the world to me.He will be missed by many who knew him and the kind man he was.Heaven gained a good man.

Yvonne: I have known Vernon "Slim" for over 50 years, we were married for 10 of those years. I never saw him angry or hateful. We loved fishing, going to the dog track, slot machines, Black Jack, and he loved to play poker in the poker rooms the best. He also played poker with his friends up till the very end. I will miss talking to him and our long trips to Casinos. So long my best friend.
Ray: He was my step Father for 10 years, but treated me as his own. He was a proud man and also a gentle man. He helped me to get into the Union as a worker, and also took me fishing and riding in his boat. He supported me in anything I wanted and showed me how to be a strong man and a gentle man at the same time. We remained friends for many years. I will miss him dearly.  He was a great man in so many ways.  Rest in Peace Slim.
