Dear Hartley family,
I have known "The Judge" since meeting he and his wife, Betty, at a Georgia football game in the 1970's.  They were at the game with my Uncle Doyle and Aunt June.  I met them at other games and always enjoyed their company.  Later, I would have the privilege of visiting with him and others at "The Dawg House" while they were holding court (as I would put it).  Sometimes when I was at home in Perry and call the Dawg House, Uncle Doyle would put him on the phone and we would talk Bulldawg football.  I will always cherish these memories of a great husband, father, Judge, friend, and Georgia Bulldawg.

Betty and Family- I was so sorry to hear about the Judge.  He was one of the greatest men I knew.  He always had a kind word and was always concerned about how things were going.  He made an impression on so many. I always enjoyed seeing you at Chatters when I was home.  I looked forward to our talks about our DAWGS!! He will be missed by so many. You are ALL in my thoughts and prayers. GOD Bless You and look UP for strength .  Love you. Lorraine

Mrs. Betty, Lori, Terri, Joni, and family, my family was deeply saddened to learn of Judge Hartley's passing, He was such a kind, God fearing man he served the Judicial System with deep conviction and integrity, he always had a smile and cared deeply for others. It is my prayer that God would uphold you and sustain you with his grace in the days ahead and that you would feel the peace that passes all understanding

Ms. Hartley and Family,
I am so sorry for your loss, he was a good person, a christian to be appreciated. I worked at Kaiser in Lyons for ten years, during the time he was President of the Lions Club.  I would make calls each week for the members (reminder calls), he was so professional and treated everyone respect.  I know he was a friend to our family all my life.  He will be missed, please find peace in knowing that he is now at peace.  Remember, you will always, always have your memories.

Dear Mrs. Hartley and family,

My first job after graduating from Collins High School in 1964 was with the firm of Sharpe, Sharpe & Hartley.  It was a pleasure working with Marvin there for about a year and learning the ropes before moving to Atlanta and then back to Statesboro.   I was pleased when I learned that he had become a Superior Court Judge, and I enjoyed seeing Judge Hartley on several occasions when on errands at various courthouses in his circuit.

Please accept my sincere condolences for your loss.
