Mrs. Mary Benton Brooks, age 74, of Vidalia died Thursday afternoon, October 1, 2020 after an extended illness.  Mary was a lifelong resident of Wheeler County, but currently resided in Vidalia.  She and her late husband Greg were owners and operators of Brooks Used Cars in Glenwood.  She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross for many years.  While raising their girls she was an active member of Glenwood First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the choir.  She most recently was a member of First Baptist Church in Vidalia.

She is preceded in death by her three sisters, Mildred Holland, Ann Anderson, Enid Clark, and one brother, Robert Benton.

Mary is survived by two daughters, Angie Brooks Collins of Vidalia, Sabrina (Brad) Thompson of Vidalia; four brothers, Ben Benton of Grayson, Clarke (Cathy) Benton of Canton, Cosby Benton of Vidalia, Ronnie (Cheryl) Benton of Glenwood; one sister, Margie (Dennis) Baker of Woodstock and two grandchildren, Marah and Danni of Vidalia who were her heart and soul.

The family will receive friends for visitation at Ronnie L. Stewart Funeral Service Vidalia Chapel Monday October 5, 2020 from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm with a Memorial Service to follow immediately with Rev. Billy Shiver and Rev. Clarence Best officiating.  Interment will be at a later date.

Mary’s girls would like to express their sincere appreciation for all that was done for their mother by Meadows Park Health & Rehabilitation and Community Hospice of Vidalia.

Angie and Sabrina, so sorry to hear of Ms. Mary's passing. She was always there with you all for Sassie Sister dances. I watched my granddaughter, Maggie Rose, dance with you for years and she was always there. Treasure the happy memories! God give you strength at this time is my prayer.
