Mr. J.D. Brantley, age 72, of Mt. Vernon died Wednesday morning March 28, 2018 at Meadows Health of Vidalia after a brief illness. He was a native and lifelong resident of Montgomery County. He was a retired trucker and was associated with Snow Hill Community Church.
Mr. Brantley is preceded in death by his parents, Dennis and Georgia Brantley and Lillie Whitaker; his brothers, Johnny Brantley Sr. and Randy Brantley; and his granddaughter, Amanda Gayle West.
J.D. is survived by his son, Ricky Brantley (Barbara) of Ailey; his daughter, Bobby Nell West (Grady) of Glenwood; his sister, Nell Moore (Ronny) of Mt. Vernon; and six grandchildren, Gracy Pearl, Grady “Lil Bam”, Amber, Alyssa, Tyler and Ashley.
Funeral Services for Mr. J.D. Brantley will be held Saturday, March 31, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Stewart-Rosier Funeral Service Vidalia Chapel with Reverend Ronny Moore and Reverend Ladon Connell officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation at the funeral home Friday, March 30, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.
The family will gather at the residence his son, Ricky Brantley at 2276 Hwy 280 in Higgston.
Stewart-Rosier Funeral Service Vidalia Chapel is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Nell, I am truly sorry to hear of J.D.'s passing even though he is in a better
place. I will surely miss seeing him and speaking with him on the phone when he comes or calls Alston Saw Shop. I will surely keep your family in my prayers.
