Mrs.  Edith Woodard Jordan, age 93, of Lyons and Dublin, passed away Saturday, November 11, 2017.

Mrs. Jordan was born and raised in Rentz, Georgia, and graduated from Dublin High School.  She was the daughter of Theron Woodard and Dossie Taylor Woodard Purvis.

She attended Valdosta State University and graduated from Georgia Southern University.She earned a Master's Degree and graduate certificates from the University of Georgia in Athens.

Mrs. Jordan was retired from the Toombs County School System, where she worked in Curriculum and Supervision.  She was an early adopter of personal computers, assisting teachers in using computers in their classrooms.  

She attended the Baptist Church, and then the Methodist Church after her marriage.  She was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church in Lyons, Georgia.  Dorsey and Edith Jordan promoted education, excellence, and hard work in their jobs and in their families.  

Mrs. Jordan is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Henry Dorsey Jordan, of Lyons; her parents, Theron Woodard and Dossie Taylor Woodard Purvis; and son, Tommy Henry Jordan, M.D.

Mrs. Jordan is survived by her brother, John Theron Woodard; her daughter, Carol Jordan Rist; her grandchildren Jennifer Jordan Maassen, Jeremy Alexander Rist, and Melanie Christina Rist.  She is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She enjoyed the long-time companionship of her Border Collie, Jake.  She also spent time with his successor, Border Collie/Springer Spaniel, Lucky Jake.  

Stewart-Rosier Funeral Service Lyons Chapel is in charge of funeral arrangements.  A private Christian burial will take place in the Lyons City Cemetery.  Flowers are welcome.

Our family knew your mom and dad well. They considered each other friends for years. We are so sorry for your loss. Remember you will always, always, have your memories. Enjoy those wonderful memories. Our prayers are with you all.
