He served as a 52 year Mason, Shriner, NRA Instructor, Mt. Vernon VFW, Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church Trustee, wildlife conservationist and volunteer firefighter. His interests included the western novels of Louie L’Amour, wild-life photography, huntin’, fishin’, square dancing with his bride, and was also an avid wine and hot sauce maker.

He is predeceased by his mother, Lucille Connor; his step father, Fred Connor; and father, Rollo Mock.
