Mr. Jack Purvis, age 58, of Mt. Vernon died Saturday October 17, 2015 at Meadows Regional Medical Center of Vidalia after a sudden illness.
Jack was a native of Macon and had lived in Mt. Vernon since 1976. He previously worked with the City of Mt. Vernon and worked at DC’s Convenience Store in Mt. Vernon. He was Baptist by Faith.
Jack is survived by his sister, Vickie Mimbs and her husband Randall of Lyons. Several nieces, nephews and many friends also survive.
Graveside Funeral Services for Mr. Jack Purvis will be held Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery with Reverend Joe Aldridge and Reverend Charlie Hodges officiating. Interment will follow. The family will receive friends at Stewart-Rosier Funeral Service Lyons Chapel Tuesday evening from 6-8 pm.
Stewart-Rosier Funeral Service of Lyons is in charge of funeral arrangements.

I am so sorry to hear of Jack's passing. Shock was my first reaction and then grief. My thoughts and prayers go out to Jack's family and friends. I've known Jack pretty much my whole life and not to see him riding around town in his white truck or working at DCs is just surreal. It makes you realize you never know when its your time. To Jack's family he is with the Angels now and may he rest in peace.
