Katie Fay Hand, age 81, of Uvalda died Sunday, February 1, 2015 at Oxley Park Health and Rehab of Lyons after an extended illness.

Katie was a native of Jeff Davis County and had resided in Uvalda since 1972.  She was a homemaker and a member of Uvalda Church of God.

She is preceeded in death by her husband, Eli Hand; two sons, Sammy Merchant and Joe Hand; and two daughters Debra Gill and Cathy Hand.

She is survived by four sons, Curtis Hand of Albequerque NM, Gordon Hand of Hilliard FL, William G. Hand of Jacksonville FL, and Dennis W. Hand of Uvalda; her daughter, Kay Beasley of Jacksonville FL; 14 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

Memorial Services for Katie Fay Hand will be held Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 1PM at the Uvalda Church of God with Chad Hand officiating.

Stewart-Rosier Funeral Service Vidalia Chapel is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Words can not express the pain and sorrow I know each of you are feeling at this time. Katie Fay was one of a kind and I know each of you will miss her. I am so sorry I am not there beside you during this process, but please know my thoughts, prayers, and love are with each of you.

From New Mexico, the friends, acquaintances and brothers/sisters, mom of Vicki wish to express their sympathy and support to the family of Katie. She was remembered here for her friendliness, good sense of humor and last but not least, her good cooking. She will not be forgotten.
