Mrs. Betty Blanche Bulloch Strickland Shaw, age 85, died Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Summers Landing after an extended illness.

Betty was born June, 29, 1929 in Ochlocknee, GA as the youngest of 3 children.  Betty attended Agnes Scott College in Atlanta.  She married Marion Ortez Strickland and moved to Toombs County where she spent the remainder of her life.  She is the mother of three children; Pam Strickland Bush and husband Michael, William Bulloch Strickland and wife Dianna, and Nancy Strickland Swanson and husband Randy.  Her second marriage to James Shaw added four step daughters to her family; Linda Shaw Moss, Patsy Shaw Clayton, Cindy Shaw and Donna Shaw Haddock and husband Jeff.

She was retired from FPE where she ran the switchboard for many years.  She led and assisted with Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, GA’s, RA’s chauffeured Little League baseball teams throughout the State and had an avid interest in all the activities of her children Betty ran the “Clothes Closet” at First Baptist Church of Vidalia with Daisy Brantley.  She delighted in helping her husband James Shaw with Toombs County charities and was a member of First Baptist Church of Vidalia and the Steadfast Sunday School Class.  

In addition to her children, she is survived by 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; 4 nieces and 4 nephews.  She is preceded in death by her parents; Reneau Douglas Bulloch and Blanche Graham Bulloch; one brother, John Douglas Bulloch and one sister, Geraldine Bulloch Thompson.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, January 19, 2015, at 2:30 PM at the Stewart-Rosier Funeral Service Vidalia Chapel with Reverend Don Moye officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Memorial Garden.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 1:30 pm until the hour of the service.

The family would also like to recognize the invaluable service and love of their extended family at Summers Landing and Affinity Hospice.
