Rita Jo Ennis Sears passed away on September 16, 2014, after a brief illness at Memorial Heath University Medical Center in Savannah, Georgia.

She was born on April 26, 1948, in Lyons, Georgia. She was a lifelong resident of Glenwood, Georgia.  She attended Brewton Parker College.  She worked as a Materials Supervisor with the Georgia Power Company and was retired. She was a homemaker and a member of Sardis Baptist Church in Glenwood, Georgia.

She was preceded in death by her parents Harper and Lois Ennis, her brothers Sam Ennis and Jimmy Morrison, and a sister, Patricia Hall.

She is survived by husband, O.L. (Rusty) Sears, brothers Bob Ennis and Don Ennis both of Glenwood, daughter Melanie Graham (Brian) of Soperton, daughter Mindy Smith of Atlanta, son Dave Smith of Atlanta, two grandchildren Alexis and Cody Graham of Soperton as well as many cousins and other relatives.

The family welcomes public condolences between the hours of 6:00-8:00 on Thursday, September 18, 2014, at the Stewart Rosier Funeral Home in Glenwood, Georgia.  Visitation will take place on Friday, September 19, 2014, from 9:00am to 11:00 at Sardis Baptist Church in Glenwood, Georgia, followed by a funeral service at 11:00am.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests remembrances be made to the following organizations at the giver’s choice: Neuro/ ICU Nursing Education Fund at Memorial Health Foundation , P.O. Box 23089, Savannah, GA 31403; Sardis Baptist Church Building Fund c/o Tony Edge 128 Free Run Road, Glenwood, GA 30428; Crossroads Baptist Church Building Fund 106 S. Wesley Chapel Rd. Eatonton, GA 31024.

My Sympathy and regrets to all the family on the loss of this special lady. May all of you find strength to overcome your sorrow in the Saviour who holds us in his hand and guides us forever more. God is with you as you go through this time of sadness. She is in a better place.

Rusty, words cannot express what I feel at this moment. I just know that "girlfriend" will truly be missed. She was one in a million and there are not enough words to describe her. You both mean a lot to me. I know that mom is welcoming girlfriend home now. You and the family are in my thoughts and prayers

Rusty, I am so shocked and sad to hear about Rita Jo. I was so looking forward to the reunion this year. I have not had a lot of dealings with my Dad's family since they divorced when I was young. Rita Jo always made me feel so welcome. She was a very special person. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
