Mrs. Edwina Palmer, age 87, of Vidalia died Thursday, June 19, 2014 in Madison Alabama after an extended illness.

Edwina was a native of Wheeler County where she was raised by her Aunt Annie and Uncle Joe Mercer and Uncle Raymond McLaughlin.  Mrs. Palmer worked in the Toombs County Tax Assessor Office and retired as Chief Tax Assessor after many years of service.  She was a member of Eastern Star and a member of Vidalia First United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Palmer is preceded in death by her husband, Jake Palmer in 2007.

She is survived by her son, Dr. Timothy Palmer of Swainsboro; her daughter, Jan Nuckols of Madison, AL; four grandchildren, Kevin Palmer, Shelley Harris, Vincent Nuckols and Gloria Cowan; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Edwina Palmer will be held Monday, June 23, 2014 at 11:00 am at Stewart-Rosier Funeral Service Glenwood Chapel with Reverend Kevin Palmore officiating.  Interment will follow in Glenwood City Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday morning from 10:00 am until the hour of the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be offered to Sweet Onion Animal Protection Society (SOAPS) at PO Box 210 Vidalia Ga. 30475.

Stewart-Rosier Funeral Service of Glenwood is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Tim and Jan, I was so sorry to hear of your mother's passing. She was a sweet woman. It's so sad to see so many parents go. When we were young it seemed they would live forever. If there is anything I can do, do not hesitate to ask.

Tim and Family...sorry for the passing of your Mom. I went to school in Vidalia, 4th thru 9th. My Grandfather BF Palmer was related to Mr. Jake. I was Frances MCDonald and we were in the same class. Again, sorry for your loss.
