Ms. Myrtle Powell Davis, age 90, of Plant City, Florida passed away Thursday, January 23, 2014 at her residence from a lengthy illness.

She was born in Wheeler County, Georgia to the late Willie D. Mercer and the late Mary Magalene Mercer.  She was the wife of the late Clyde D. Powell (Slim) of Ailey, Georgia.

Ms. Myrtle is survived by her son, Dewitt (Delories) Powell of Mt. Vernon, Georgia; and daughters Suzie (Jose) Gonzalez of Plant City, Florida and Libby Parrish of Vidalia, Georgia.  She had four grandchildren: Chris and Vickie Powell, Cindy Lyle and Danny Parrish.  She also had 14 great-grandchildren: Andy, David, Julia, Lisa, Rebecca, and Matthew Gonzalez; Christopher Powell, Jennifer Meacham, Dusty and James Lyle; Heather Carroll; Aaron Conrad; Amy Black; and Chris Carroll.  Ms. Myrtle also had three great-great grandchildren: Justin, Hannah and Cassie Meacham.  She is also survived by two sisters: Hattie Williams and Pearl Pennington; and several nieces and nephews.

Ms. Myrtle was a member of the churches, Lotts Creek Church of God in Mt. Vernon, Georgia and Evangelist for Jesus Tabernacle in Dover, Florida.  She was also involved in the VFW.  During her legacy, she loved God, her friends and her family.  She was always a hard worker and never wasted a moment.

Funeral Services for Ms. Myrtle Powell Davis will be held Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Lotts Creek Church of God of Mt. Vernon with Reverend Jerry Newell and Reverend WR Connell officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.

So sorry to hear of Ms. Myrtle's passing, but she was a fine lady, and I enjoyed the years I attended Lotts Creek Church with her, she was always smiling and being an encouragement to others! Praying for your family at this time, but celebrating for her!

Ms Williams so sorry to hear this. Prayers for you all. We loved aunt Myrtle she was a very sweet lady.
