Mrs. Elouise Mathis, age 69, of Glenwood died early Monday morning, May 6, 2013 at Meadows Regional Medical Center of Vidalia after an extended illness.
Mrs. Mathis was a native of Johnson County and had lived in Glenwood for most of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of Snowhill Community Church.
Mrs. Mathis is preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Mathis, in 1985; her daughter, Mary Alice Mathis, in 1994; her brother, Arvin Wilkerson, in 2005; and her sister, Paulette Bridley, in 1994.
She is survived by her son, Dovie Mathis of Towns; three daughters Charlotte Mathis of Uvalda, Betty Farmer of Uvalda and Angie Horton of Soperton; one brother, Harvel Wilkerson of Augusta; fifteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Elouise Mathis will be held Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at 3:00 PM at Ronnie L. Stewart Funeral Service Glenwood Chapel with Reverend Harry Ogle and Reverend W.R. Connell officiating. Interment will follow in Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 pm.
