Mrs. Joyce Lane Parrish, age 70, of Vidalia died Saturday afternoon, April 13, 2013 after an extended illness.

Mrs. Parrish was a native of Jacksonville, Fl., lived in Millen for many years and had resided in Vidalia since 1967.  She worked at Stewart Quality Meats for many years and after retiring she was a homemaker.  She was Church of God by faith.  Her children think of their mother not as a victim of cancer, but as a survivor.  She was a woman of such courage, strength and determination who lived for her family.  

She is preceded in death by her father; her brother Travis; two sisters, Connie and Gail; and her granddaughter, Brittany Johnson.

She is survived by her husband of 36 years, James B. Parrish of Vidalia; her son, Jimmy Lane and wife Debbie of Reidsville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Teri Lane Johnson and husband Allen of Vidalia; Peggy Lane Rogers and husband Tony of Waynesboro; her mother, Vondell Baxter of Millen; her brother, Larry Byrd of Aiken, S.C.; her sister, Diane Martinez of Waynesboro; two grandsons, Christopher Strickland of Vidalia and Benjamin Johnson of Vidalia; four granddaughters, Jessie Hutto of Vidalia, Theresa Campbell of Brunswick, Kayla Blocker of Reidsville and Alisha Dutton of Reidsville; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Joyce Lane Parrish will be held Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at 2:00 PM from the Ronnie L. Stewart Funeral Service Chapel of Vidalia with Reverend Charles Carter and Pastor Wilma Byrd officiating.  Interment will follow in Lyons City Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Monday evening.  The family will assemble at the home of her daughter Teri Johnson at 106 Sebie Page Road in Vidalia.
