Mr. Byron “Taft” Oliver, age 73 of Mt. Vernon died early Sunday morning January, 27, 2013 at his residence after an extended illness.
Mr. Oliver was a native of Tattnall County and lived in Mt. Vernon for the past 46 years. He was retired from Reeves Construction, served in the United States Army and was a member of Little Flock Primitive Baptist Church near Collins.
Mr. Oliver is survived by his son Bryant Oliver of Mt. Vernon; two daughters, Ramona Wilson who serves as a Missionary to Germany and Gayla Sharpton of Norristown; one brother, Cleon Oliver of Reidsville; two sisters, Neva Collins of Statesboro and Gina Murray of Savannah. Seven grandchildren also survive.
Funeral Services for Mr. Byron “Taft” Oliver will be held Friday, February 1, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of the Ronnie L. Stewart Funeral Service of Vidalia with Reverend Brian Patrick and Reverend Andrew Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Little Flock Cemetery near Collins.
