Mr. Duane M. Franke, age 66 of 1706 Sharon Drive, Vidalia, died Sunday morning October 28, 2012 in Community Hospice of Vidalia after an extended illness.

Duane was a native of Bellefourche South Dakota and has resided in Vidalia since 1991.  He was a retired teacher and recreation coach and was Lutheran by faith. 

Duane is survived by his wife, Joyce Franke of Vidalia; two sons, Chip Franke of Rapid City, South Dakota and Kelsey Franke of Bellefourche, South Dakota; two step-sons, Terry Herrick of Vidalia and Shawn Herrick of Maryville, PA; two brothers, Quentus Franke of Denver, Colorado and Charlie Franke of Bellefourche, South Dakota and two sisters, Vernie Estes of Denver, Colorado and Esther Zimmerman of Rapid City, South Dakota.  Ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survive.  Duane is preceded in death by his parents, Quentus and Pauline Franke; one sister, Phyllis Dykes, and one step-son, Tony Herrick.

Funeral Services for Mr. Duane M. Franke will be conducted Tuesday morning October 30, 2012 at 11:00 AM from the Ronnie L. Stewart Funeral Service Chapel of Vidalia with Reverend Bill Vansant officiating.  Entombment will follow in Lakeview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.  The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Monday evening from 6 until 8 PM.

Joyce, I''m so sorry to hear that Uncle Duane passed. I know that we are all grateful for no more pain and suffering. My memories of him are way back as a young kid at the farm, he always wore his letterman jacket and ate sunflower seeds. He will be greatly missed. He had such a wonderful smile.
