Mr. Elzer “E.A.” Cheek, age 80, of Glenwood died early Thursday morning February 22, 2018 at Fairview Park Hospital of Dublin after a brief illness.  

Elzer was a native of Lumber City. He served in the Coast Guard traveling worldwide, was involved in the cleanup efforts after the Korean War, and received a medal for saving a life. He was a Mason and a member of the Altamaha River Keepers. He was the founder of Cherokee Sandridge Club and was Methodist by Faith.

Mr. Cheek was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Cheek on January 25, 2018.

Mr. Cheek is survived by one son, Ruskin (Sheila) Cheek of Glenwood; two daughters, Karen (Greg) Hallas of College Park, and Stacey (Ron) Arnold of Big Canoe. Four grandchildren, Brooke, Colby, Sydney and Kylie; and two great-grandchildren, Clara and Sadie.

Graveside Services for Mr. Elzer “E.A.” Cheek will be held Saturday February 24, 2018 at Gravel Hill Cemetery in Bloomingdale at 11:00 AM with Reverend Darrel Bailey officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday evening at Stewart-Rosier Funeral Service Glenwood Chapel from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
