Mr. Joe D. Connell, age 81, of Glenwood, died early Thursday morning, March 12, 2020 at his residence after an extended illness. Joe was a native and lifelong resident of Wheeler County and was retired owner/operator of Appling Dress Corporation. He was Baptist by Faith.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and a sister.

Joe is survived by his wife, Betty Sue Connell of Glenwood; one son, Clay Connell (Wanda Kaye) of Glenwood; one daughter, Susan Connell of Glenwood; and one sister, Margaret Carver of Glenwood. Three grandchildren, Nikki, Andrea, and Dakota also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Joe D. Connell will be held Sunday, March 15, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Ronnie L. Stewart Funeral Service Glenwood Chapel with Reverend W.R. Connell and Reverend Ladon Connell officiating. Interment will follow at Edge Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Ronnie L. Stewart Funeral Service Glenwood Chapel from 6:00PM until 8:00PM.
