Nora Margy Brown Burchell, beloved wife of Donnell Eugene Burchell and mother of Melanie Burchell and Reed Burchell (deceased), passed peacefully into the arms of our Lord on October 25, 2015 in Sacramento, California.

Margy was born June 5, 1941 to Ralph and Mary Brown in DeSoto, Georgia. An alumni of Lyons High School, she married Don after graduation and traveled with him around the country supporting his military career. During that time, they were blessed with two children, Melanie and Reed. Toward the end of Don’s military career, the family settled in Ailey, Georgia, where they spent much of the remainder of their lives. Margy was a long-time member and former president of the Vidalia Pilot Club and an active member of the First Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, Georgia. She and Don spent many years running a successful catering business out of Ailey, and enjoyed participating in the many celebrations for which they catered. Her time spent in Ailey was filled with memories of friends and family. Niece Jill O’Neal and husband Chester blessed Margy with the opportunity to spend many joyful years with great niece Lauren.

The last five years of Margy’s life was spent living in Walnut Grove, California, which allowed Don and Margy to be nearer to their grandchildren, who they loved dearly.

Margy was preceded in death by her adored son, Reed Eugene Burchell; sisters, Gladys Brown Foster and Mary Jo Brown; and brother, Kenneth Brown.

She is survived by her husband, Don Burchell; daughter, Melanie Schauer (Bill); brother, Robert Brown; granddaughters, Chelsea, Gretchen, and Claire Schauer; grandson, William Schauer; nephew, Gordon Foster (Gina); nieces, Kim Foster Garnto and Jill Brown O'Neal (Chester); great nieces Mary-Michael Futch, Jade Foster, and Lauren Knight Melton (Matthew); and great-great niece, Sadie Melton.

Interment will occur privately at Hardens Chapel Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at
Stewart-Rosier Funeral Service Vidalia Chapel on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 from 3:00 – 5:00 pm.

At Margy’s request, in lieu of flowers, please make donations in her memory to Canine Companions for Independence (www.cci.org).
