Mr. J. D. Meeks, age 81, of Vidalia died Thursday morning, October 29, 2015 at Community Hospice after an extended illness.

Mr. Meeks was a native and lifelong resident of Toombs County. He was a retired heavy equipment operator and a member of Vidalia Church of Christ.

J. D. is survived by his wife of 56 years, Hilda Meeks of Vidalia; two sons, Dale Meeks of Lyons and Brett Meeks of Vidalia; two daughters, Cynthia “Cindy” Ziebell of Soperton and Connie Hallman of Glennville; one brother, Wedrell Meeks of Vidalia; two sisters, Sylvester Hall of Vidalia and Rebecca Driggers of Lyons; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A private memorial service will be held for Mr. J. D. Meeks at a later date.
