Mr. Barney Jordan “BJ” Hutcheson, age 67, of Lyons, Georgia, went to be with His Lord and Savior Thursday July 9, 2015 at Meadows Regional Center of Vidalia after an extended illness.  

Barney was retired from Georgia Power Company after 28 years of service. He served in the US Army and was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents, I.J. and Lavada Hutcheson, and two sisters, Helen H. Smith and Betty H. Kersey.

BJ is survived by his wife, Gloria Branch Hutcheson; three sons, Hugh A. Hutcheson of Reidsville, Barney David Hutcheson and his wife Dottie of Lyons, John Wesley Hutcheson and his wife Cindy of Mt. Vernon; and one stepson, Will Register and his wife Lynn of Garden City; a sister, Mildred H. Kersey of Alamo; one grandson; six granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Barney Hutcheson will be held Monday, July 13, 2015, at 10:00 AM at Stewart-Rosier Funeral Service Lyons Chapel with Reverend Michael Plowman officiating.  Interment will be held privately at a later date. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, Liberty Baptist Church Mission Fund, or the charity of your choice.
