Ms. Patsy Ann Adams, age 69, of Glenwood was called home to be with her Jesus early Sunday morning February 10, 2019 at Community Hospice of Vidalia after an extended illness.

Ms. Adams was a Registered Nurse who retired after 30 years of service.  During her nursing career she received numerous awards and recognitions for her selfless service to those in need.  She was previously a member of Wheeler County Garden Club and Wheeler County Jaycess/Jaycets.  She also served as the Past President of the Glenwood Crusaders.  Patsy was very active in the Wheeler County Relay for Life for many years where she served in many capacities; she was instrumental in organizing teams to walk and served as the Captain of her team. She won the Doctor Frist Humanitarian Award in 1998 and was employee of the month for Fairview Park Hospital of Dublin.  She was recognized as the volunteer of the year for the Montgomery/Wheeler County Heart Unit in 1984/1985.

Patsy enjoyed sewing, arts and crafts, cooking, serving on committees, decorating, singing in the choir, being the community nurse, taking care of her elderly friends, spending time with her family, and spoiling her nephews and nieces.  But most of all, Patsy enjoyed serving others.  She enjoyed the outdoors, feeding the birds, watching the butterflies, and taking pictures.  She had a card ministry and always was an encourager to others.  Patsy was a member of Stuckey Baptist Church where she served in many capacities and leadership roles.  She always had a special place in her heart for helping others.

Ms. Adams is preceded in death by her parents Willie Manning Adams and Ruby Mercer Adams; her sister Annie Ruth Powell; her brothers, Thomas Adams and Donnie L. Adams; her sisters-in-law Mildred Adams, Lynette Adams and Rhonda Adams; and her brother-in-law Roy Hilliard.

Patsy is survived by her brother Willie A. Adams (Jack) of Brunswick; three sisters, Hazel Nelms (Charles) of Glenwood, Geneva Graham (Gene) of Glenwood, and Shirley Hilliard of Eastman.  Although Patsy didn’t have any children of her own, she was known as Patsy Granny or Aunt Patsy to many of her nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral Services for Ms. Patsy Ann Adams will be held Wednesday February 13, 2019 at Stewart-Rosier Funeral Service Vidalia Chapel at 3:00 PM with Reverend B.L. Horne and Reverend Ralph Horne Sr. officiating. Interment will follow at Stuckey Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.

Patsy I will never forget you and your spirit through nursing school. You were an inspiration to us all then and as no surprise while reading your obituary you had a life of service. You were not only a nurse who made a difference in the lives of your patients but you made a difference in the lives of all who knew you and had the fortune of knowing you. Rest in peace. I know you are celebrating with your lord. To Patsy's family my prayers go out to you. Thank you Patsy for a life well lived.

My heart is broken! Missing my dear sweet friend. Patsy Adams along with her brother Bud and sister Hazel were among my closest and best friends when I moved to Stuckey in 1967! Patsy nor I had ever seen the sun set or rise over the ocean, so both are strong believers of faith and our Church but we loaded up and went to Jekyll Island to see the sun set over the ocean! Early to rise on
Sunday morning, we hit the beach along with our Bibles and Sunday School books and had our own lesson on the beach as the sun rose over the beautiful waves and sound of the water! Just thinking about her being a friend a TRUE friend makes my emotions almost uncontrollable at times. I love you Patsy and all my peacocks you have given me! I know I will see you again but missing your presence now!
Margaret

Adams family! Words would never express what a great loss to this ole world when Patsy left us for higher ground. She was an example of everything great and small. She loved all, lived for all, did for all, was an example for all. She will surely be missed by all. God grant you peace at this most difficult time!

We were so sorry to hear about Patsy. In 1978 she took very good care of our mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Adamson, during her illness. We will always be so grateful to her for what she did. Her Family is in our thoughts and prayers.

I'm so sorry to hear about Patsy. I have been praying for all. I can only walk a few feet at a time without running out of breath. I won't be able to go to the funeral because I have a hospital appt. to get x-rays. But y'all will be in my thoughts and prayers. I love y'all.
