Joseph “Joey” O’Neal, age 46 of Mt. Vernon died Tuesday evening, August 21, 2012 at Community Hospice in Vidalia after a brief illness.
Joey was a native of Vidalia and had lived in Mt. Vernon for the past eight years. He was a former correctional officer for the State of Georgia and was Baptist by faith.
Joey is survived by his fiance’, Judy Taylor of Mt. Vernon; a son, Shaun O’Neal of Lyons; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Reggie and Edna O’Neal of Vidalia, Gerald and Donna O’Neal of Lyons and Darrell and Joyce O’Neal of Reidsville; a sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Jan Kennedy of Reidsville.
Graveside services for Joseph “Joey” O’Neal will be held at 11 am Friday, August 24, 2012 at Lakeview Memorial Gardens with Reverend Michael Plowman officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 pm until 9 pm Thursday night at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Community Hospice, P.O. Box 2277, Vidalia, GA 30475.
